New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players Long Beach Theatre reviews
A positive voice in music
Their music has endured over the decades since they first started recording in the 60s, making New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players one of those positive voices in music. After following them for many years, this was my first time seeing them in concert, and it turned out to be a most memorable night. Their lyrics express those simple yet important human sentiments and speak to the heart.
I took a friend who is quite a bit younger than I. She left truly touched and amazed, despite not knowing much about their music. When they performed Carole King's song "You've Got Friend", she was moved to tears.
New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players were very entertaining up on stage. They seemed so genuine, quite funny, and came across as though you could sit across the kitchen table and simply talk with them. The group of musicians they had with them were terrific! They all did the entire show (with an intermission) and even came out for two encores. They were also excited to be performing at the bowl.
The crowd was fun as well. We all sang along with the songs that we knew, which made the night even more special.
